Woah.. It has been long! hahaha..
I really wanted to keep the blogging going but work has been really overwhelming..
Teaching P1, P3 and P5 this year. All higher Chinese classes which means it is gonna be a target stressing year! especially when I have the P5 HCL class with me.. they are the hope for the school! hahaha..
Anyway, academic work aside, I really wanna record about the CCA i'm taking which is basketball!
haha.. don't ask me why I am not taking netball! simply, my school doesn't have one yet. hee..
Back to my point.
Basketball CCA is really the highlight of my afternoons! (with very conscious effort to NOT think about the stacked up and accumulated work and markings!) Seeing the boys improving and most importantly changing their attitude towards people and having increasing sportsmanship is a very encouraging process.
I recall the first time seeing them train and the time when they played match amongst themselves. Gosh. I thought I had a whole bunch of gangsters in my CCA! haha.. of course, there are nice boys too! So many times I just scolded and literally told them they are not that great so better get those weird and nonsense air out and get down to serious training.
I think they got it really bad from me once when I stopped the training and punished them with very tough physical training. They still dared to giggle! AND they loved to talk back and challenge me. Man.. they were messing with the wrong person! hahaha..
Anyway, cut the long story short, I have no idea when they started loving me and vise versa. Maybe they saw our care and concern for them? haha.. I dunno. Maybe it was just genuinely, they grew up.
Today we played teckwhye. Before every match I would remind them about clean language and never to get angry. Even when others push them or hurt them, they must still not let it affect them. Also, I told them that they should apologise when they accidentally committed fouls against opponents. Today some opponents' language was really foul and my boys didn't retaliate and even told me which guy swore and how they ignored it. Really proud of them.
Of course, the boys won because they fought till the end. Ok, I admit, I keep scaring them that we are gonna lose and that we need to score 5 more. this "5 more" didn't decrease at all throughout. hahahah!
All in all, I enjoyed myself tremendously today. Special mention of a darling - Rong Zhi, who stayed to accompany me to wait for the last game to end and helped me pack up the venue. If any of the students are reading this, please help me tell him I really appreciate it! of course, that shy but really tall MVP for today will blush and run away. hahaha..
When my CCA boss asked me what is the most important thing I wanna achieve in this CCA, I told him that I hope that every boy will learn a Never Give Up attitude and pull through every difficulty. Today they really made me proud. We were losing in 1st and 2nd quarter but we came back with a victorious win of 23-41!
Ok, I really just wanna document this feeling before I forget it...
Tomorrow is sports day. I am running teacher's race but now I am aching all over.
Still have essays to finish for my course which is due in less than a day.
It is such an awesome thing to be making a little difference in someone's life.
